Emory Employees Invited to CDC Elder Care Fair

The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention have extended an invitation to all Emory employees and their family members who would like to attend their upcoming Elder Care Fair. The event will be held:

 

May 30, 2012

Roybal Campus, Building 19 (GCC), Auditorium B (Clifton Road Campus)

10AM – 2PM

 

Advanced registration is mandatory in order to attend the event due to security restrictions when entering the CDC campus. The deadline for registration is May 21, 2012.

 

The Elder Care Fair is designed as an opportunity for employees to learn about options available to help provide care for elder parents or relatives. It is held in May as a means to celebrate Older Americans month and is sponsored by HCRMO/CDC Work-Life Programs. Professionals will be available to answer questions about resources including assisted living, relocation, adult day care, transportation and much more. Breakout sessions titled, “What to Look for When Considering Assisted Living”, “Senior Legal Issues-Getting Things in Order”, and “Ten Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s” will take place between 12-1PM.

 

Upon registration, you will be asked to answer a couple of questions for security purposes at the CDC. Walking, carpooling and shuttle service are strongly encouraged due to limited parking on the CDC campus. If you chose to drive, you will need to enter in the far right lane for visitors. Your car will be searched as a standard protocol of entering the CDC campus. All guests will be required to check in and show proof of identification (driver’s license or photo id) and indicate that they are an Emory employee/guest attending the CDC Elder Care Fair. All guests will be issued a temporary badge and will be led to Auditorium B. We hope this won’t deter anyone from attending and believe the information available to guests will be extremely valuable.

 

This Elder Care Fair has been held in the past and is an excellent resource for those interested in learning more about the various resources and types of services are available to help with caregiving responsibilities and/or planning for one’s own long-term care. BrownRichards & Associates will also be onsite and available to help employees with dependent care referrals.
