The Emory Child Care Network welcomes the Decatur Montessori program to its network. The Montessori Method of education, developed by Dr. Maria Montessori, is a child-centered educational approach based on scientific observations of children from birth to adulthood.
It is a view of the child as one who is naturally eager for knowledge and capable of initiating learning in a supportive, thoughtfully prepared learning environment. It is an approach that values the human spirit and the development of the whole child—physical, social, emotional, cognitive.
The Decatur Montessori School is a 20 year old AMI certified school dedicated to Montessori philosophy. It's uniqueness is that they offer an all-day and year-round Montessori school unlike several others who are ½ or ¾ day with lower/competitive fee structure. They offer Spanish as 2nd language recognizing how important it is aside from Music, Art, Soccer et al as enrichment activities. Decatur Montessori has loyal long term staff and highly skilled, Montessori certified Lead Teachers. The directors are passionately driven educators and specifically dedicated to Montessori, being PhDs in Education (Child Psychology and Montessori certified) and PhD in Management. The schools infrastructure is ideally conducive to Montessori learning because it is almost an extension of a child’s home. Tender love and care is the hallmark of it's staff.
Decatur Montessori School all day, year around program is currently available for children 6 weeks – 6 years old. Decatur Montessori School has agreed to waive its $75.00 application fee, offer a 3% discount on full year advance fee payments with a $500.00 enrollment credit put towards the tuition fee on a full day program and allow Emory families to receive a priority admission if a waiting list exist.
