Staff Retirement Peer Coaching Program


The Emory Retirement Peer Coaching Program is offered to assist soon-to-be staff retirees with planning for multiple transitions that may be encountered with anticipated lifestyle, social, emotional, and psychological changes after retirement. Peer coaching can assist participants with this planning process with the goal of having a fulfilling life after retirement. It has been noted that beginning the retirement planning process early can and does facilitate a healthier adjustment, and having a retirement peer coach can augment this process. In fact, over the past years, significant research has substantiated the need for both financial and emotional preparation for retirement.

 

Participants in the program will be matched with Emory staff retirees who have completed training with the Faculty Staff Assistance Program (FSAP). These trained Emory retirees will serve as Peer Coaches to facilitate the participant’s exploration of retirement goals, vision setting, and action planning with a holistic approach to retirement over approximately three coaching sessions.
