Suggested Steps for Your Proposal

  1. Assess your situation and review different options.
  2. Prepare a written proposal that is consistent with your manager’s work style.
      1. Address the why, what, where, and how; include a communication plan.
      2. Discuss how the manager can evaluate the effectiveness of the arrangement.
      3. Contact the Emory WorkLife Resource Center if you need assistance.
  3. Meet with your manager to discuss your proposal; revise as necessary.
  4. Manager formalizes the arrangement into a written agreement.
  5. Pilot the FWA. Meet regularly with your manager to discuss effectiveness of the FWA.
  6. Once the pilot is complete, meet with your manager to discuss the FWA and whether it should continue.
