If you are a parent and live in Atlanta, you definitely know (or should know) of Atlanta Parent Magazine. They are one of the best resources in the metro area to learn about schools, services, camps, and events for kids (and their parents)! Each October for the past 6 years, Atlanta Parent Magazine, with its co-sponsors, has hosted The Family Block Party. The day-long event is held at Mercer University in Atlanta and attracts about 5000+ people. The 2009 Family Block Party is held on Saturday, October 10 from 10am – 4pm. It is a fun affordable event for the entire family and a great way to meet others in the community. There are more than 50 different activities for all ages ranging from face painting and arts & crafts to a Toddler Play Zone, Trick or Treat Street, a petting zoo, entertainment stages, food and more.
Tickets are $5 per person (each admission includes 3 activity tickets) and can be purchased in advance on the Atlanta Parent Website.
Each year Atlanta Parent reaches out to the community looking for volunteers to help with the Family Block Party event. People from all over Atlanta donate time to get involved and enjoy knowing that their support helps provide so much fun for children in the city. This year, Emory would like to encourage you (parent or not) to volunteer at this festive event. Volunteers must be over 12 years of age. Preferences as to activities and shifts will be honored when possible but flexibility is appreciated. RNs or MDs are always welcome in helping with First Aid. All volunteers receive 4 free tickets to the event. For more information contact Diana Johnson, Volunteer Coordinator for Atlanta Parent Magazine’s Family Block Party at 678-222-1901 or email@example.com
We look forward to seeing you there!
